Their safe place

I have a love/hate relationship with Scout. If I had to do it all over again, I would have waited until Lily was London's age. Scout just wants to be in the middle of everything. The girls can't play with their toys in the floor without him dragging something off. He loves doll hair, puzzle pieces, and crayons. If the girls run, he is right on their heels, jumping on them, and knocking them to the ground. They scream, he gets even more excited, and I have to come rescue them from those sharp little baby teeth. I forgot how much work a puppy can be and when you add two little kids in the mix, it's enough to make you want to pull out your hair. BUT each day gets a little easier. He is doing great on the potty training--thank goodness. He's very smart, it's just the puppy phase that I can't wait to get out of.
The girls do love him. BUT when Scout gets in one of his wild moods, it scares them to death. He runs around here so fast you can barely see him. He jumps on you, tries to bite your toes, then takes off like a bolt of lightning. They have no place to go to escape his orneriness except for the couch. They both dash to it, jump on, and get as far away from the edge as possible. Scout tries desperately to jump up there with them but he's still too little. The girls like to tease him and taunt him from the protection of the couch. They laugh and giggle at him as he tries over and over to get to them. I give Scout just a few more weeks though, and unfortunately the couch won't be their safe place anymore.
