Now that London is back in school, I have had some time alone with my Lily. It's been quiet around here but it's been nice. Lily and I have been running errands, going out to lunch, playing Barbies, and just hanging out together. She is easy-going so our days are laid back and sometimes nothing gets done at all. But that is all over for her now. I enrolled her back in her same PreK school (our church) but this year she'll go 3 days a week. I think she'll like it. I was a little hesistant but I got to get her ready for Kindergarten!
We made an appointment for her 4 year check-up. I forgot how brutal this appointment was. The beginning was easy. She's 37 inches tall and weighs 34lbs. She's in the 20th percentile in her height and weight. She did just fine when they pricked her finger. She actually was very interested in seeing her blood come out and she asked the nurse questions the whole time. Then it was off to see Dr. S. He told us her blood was perfect and he checked her from head to toe. He asked Lily some questions about colors, her name and how to spell it, riding her bike, and how many times she brushes her teeth. She passed. After telling her how perfect she is (I just love Dr. S!) he left and we waited for the nurse to come back.
Lily looked at me with sad little eyes, and said so quietly, "I'm not done am I?" She knew what was coming next. I told her to be brave and that the shot would not hurt but for just a second. She started breathing heavily but no tears yet. The nurses came back in--trying to be happy and positive. We laid Lily down, I grabbed her sweet hands, and they stuck her three times. She burst into tears and I felt horrible. The nurses were quick, and I picked her up really fast. I told her it was over and it was time to go. She only cried for about 30 seconds.
(Now, when I did this with London--we had a completley different experience. London will yell, kick, and sceam. It's like a demon comes out of her. When they pricked her finger, it was like they were cutting it off!! But Lily just simply lays there and takes it. She's like a dead cat. She might cry but she isn't about to put a fight. So funny how they are soooo different.)
We went to the dollar store afterwards, and I told her she could pick out anything she wanted. We looked around and when she saw this--her mind was settled.
And that is what she picked out. She's been wearing it non-stop.
Tuesday was the Meet the Teacher. We got to see her cute little classroom. New toys, new books, new friends, and a new start. Mrs. F is super nice. She seems to be a no-nonsense type of teacher. She had a meeting with the parents and after that we left. Lily was super excited and was ready to stay.
We went home that evening and right before bed, we read the little preschool poem and got to sprinkle her special confetti so she would get a good night's rest! She was so happy to have a turn at this!
Lily woke up the next morning so ready! She had waffles and milk, we packed up back-pack, made her lunch, and headed out the door.
Everytime I tell her to smile, she immediately puts her little hands up like this.
Almost there...
Walking with a friend.
She found her room, found her cubby, and put away her backpack. She gave me a quick hug, and skipped off to join her friends on the mat for circle time.
I had a glorious day all to myself. I gutted out the game room, Lily's room, and London's room. I took a trash bag, and went around the rooms, and threw away crap. They are such hoarders with little, cheapy, toys. The trash bag was bulging when I was done and I felt such a beauiful cleansing feeling. I watched The View and had a Lean Cuisine. I worked on MOPS stuff and then headed back out to get Lily first and then London.
Lily had a great day. She was talkative and told me all about her fun day. She wasn't as excited to go back the next day though. No skipping, laughing, or loving life for this little girl. The hug at the door to her room lasted a lot longer than the day before. But once she's there, I know she's having a good time--at least that is what I tell myself! :-)
When I picked her up on Thursday, I was waiting at Mrs. F's door. They had been reading a book and talking about a mouse for the past two days. The mouse left Lily a cookie for her after school snack the day before. That day, Mrs. F asked the kiddos what would you do if the mouse came to your house? All the responses were so sweet. Then there is Lily's!!
What a hoot!
When we were driving home, she told me that she told Mrs. F that she would squish that little mousy if he ever came to her house and then she burst out laughing--actually it was more of an evil laugh. We are so proud.
Lily did have a good first two days and we are ready to come back next Tuesday--well, at least this momma is!

And yes, she got her hair chopped--on accident! We went to Sweet-N-Sassy to get a TRIM! I told the highshcooler cutting her hair that we wanted it right below her shoulders. I ventured off to look at the jewlery and bows and when I turned around I saw that half of her hair was gone. I about started crying. But I didn't want to upset Lily or make her think it wasn't good so we are rolling with it. It is super cute and SO EASY to deal with but when you ask for a trim and walk out with a bob--it's a little shocking to say the least.
