I'm afraid my days are limited visiting Santa. London no longer believes. I think it was harder on me than her though. It was last summer when she began questioning the tooth fairy. I can remember her saying, "A flying tooth fairy coming and taking my tooth is impossible." She sat on that thought for a couple of days and then when she flat out asked if the tooth fairy was real, well, I had to tell her the truth. From there it went downhill. The next week, she started questioning Santa. "Does he really come down the chimney?" How can he bring toys to every single child?" "Sleighs don't really fly." "Rudolph can't be real." I had a sinking feeling the truth was going to come out soon. She sat me down, looked straight in my eyes, and asked, "Mom, is Santa real? Tell me the truth." So, I told her. She responded with, "I KNEW IT!" And that was it. No tears, no hurt feelings, no devastation...she was fine. Then we had a big talk about not telling Sister or anyone at school. I told her that it's the parents responsibility when to tell their children...not her. She loves a secret and loves the idea of knowing something BIG time and not being able to tell anyone. So far so good. Lily is still going strong with Santa.
