The paci fairy

Well, the paci fairy has finally made an appearance at the Mills household, and I couldn't be more proud!
London loved the paci from the very beginning. She took right to it and just never stopped. About 6 months ago, I took it away from her during the day, so now she only has it during nap time and bed time. I promised myself though that after the holidays, it was going bye bye forever. She is almost two, and in my opinion, is getting too old for it. But I have been dreading this day. I know it will take some time to get over it, but we are on our way. We made a big deal about saying good bye to our paci. I have heard many different ways of getting rid of it, so we combined a few ideas and had quite a morning.

First off, we got dressed up for the occasion. She got to pick out her outfit and just like any girl would choose, she chose her ballerina dress and her boots. Perfect! We sat down and colored a picture for our paci fairy. I also put out all the paci's for one last time (she loved this part the most!). While we colored I explained what was happening:

Me-We have to say goodbye to our paci today. The paci fairy is coming today to take them away to give to the other babies. You are a big girl now and don't need one anymore.
London-Babies?
Me-Yes, babies have paci's, not big girls like London.
London- Lonnon?
Me-Say bye bye to the paci.
London-Bye bye

Poor thing. I'm not even sure she really understood all of it, but she will this afternoon during nap time. Anyway, we put the paci's in the box along with our picture. We colored on the box, taped it up, and headed downstairs to put it outside for the paci fairy!

The perfect outfit!

She could hardly color--she was enjoying the paci too much!

At one point, she tried to put them all in her mouth!

Say, "Bye Bye!"

Hope the paci fairy comes soon!

After we said good bye to the paci, we went upstairs, she stripped off her clothes, and had a snack. It was like nothing happened! No tears!

To celebrate for lunch, we headed over to McDonald's for a Happy Meal! Yummy!

Don't forget the milk shake!

I will keep you posted to let you know how it's going! Please say a prayer for us!

I'm anxious to hear how it goes! It took Dana two solid days to get over the loss of her pacis. Then there was nothing - like she'd never even had one to begin with. Good luck!

Good Luck! Reagan's been so whiny lately I've given in to the paci. But I think we'll have to chuck them soon.

This is the cutest thing I've ever heard. I'll have to remember this for future use. . .much FUTURE use! :-)

If a milkshake can't help a girl mourn a loss, I'm not sure what can! Keep us posted! PS LOVE her room, it's beautiful...I think you might need to be on the tour of homes!

That is the smartest idea - I love it. Although it doesn't look I'll have a chance to get creative like that. Jonathan HATES his paci.

But he looks so cute sucking on it as a baby.

*sniff*

I feel like I miss it more than he does. LOL!
