Big expectations

I LOVED Mary Lou Retton. I can remember watching her during the Olympics and wanting to be just like her. She was amazing, graceful, and competed with perfection. She was fun to watch, and I so wanted to do everything she did.
Well, I was no Mary Lou, but I did love gymmastics and cheerleading. I tried out for cheerleader my 6th grade year and made it--my hot pink shorts and all. I cheered for 6 years and even made head cheerleader my senior year. I still regret to this day not trying out at OSU but I was burned out and was ready to move on. My sister was in cheerleading and pom as well. It runs in our family.
With all this being said, London (and Lily soon) have some shoes to fill. I enrolled London in gymnastics and thankfully she loves it too. How can she not? She gets to practice walking the beam, swing from the little bars, practice her "tumbling", and do "flips" on the trampoline! The coach came up to me after the class and asked if London had been in gymnastics before. I told him no and he said, "Wow! Well, that is surprising. She did really good today. A natural." Yes, he could have been pulling my leg but it totally sold me. I was ecstatic.
London may not be a Mary Lou when she gets older but she better make cheeleader one of these days. I am afraid I may be one of "those moms" when it comes to cheer. I am already scared for London and Lily. Bless their hearts.

They jump with their frogs to each station.

Discussing the trampoline rules.

I love this one! What a hoot!

Maybe I will try and dig up some old cheerleading pics of myself...we'll see...

love it,especially the rope one. I'm dying to see the cheer shots and I'm crossing my fingers that there was a perm involved! Don't let me down! Wasn't Jeff a cheerleader too or do the boys just make fun of him.
