Is it really that time?

Last night was Kindergarten Roundup. I am still in denial that we actually went to an Elementaty school yesterday and signed my baby up for Kindergarten. How can it be time for that?

London was super excited! She knew this day was coming and it's all she's been talking about. J took off work early, picked us up, and we all headed to Cox. It's our neighborhood school and it takes about 2 minutes to get there. We walked up to the school and were greeted by sweet friendly teachers. We stood in line and gave them her name. One of the teachers asked London her last name and she just stared at them with a blank expression on her face. I about gave her a spanking right then and there....of course she knows her last name!! I guess she was feeling a little nervous and overwhelmed. We also had to go to another line and have a teacher carefully inspect her medical records. (What do you do if you are against vaccinating your child? How do they go to school? Just wondering....)

While we did that, one of the Kindergarten teachers took her to the library and asked her a series of questions. London told me they asked her about some shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. I had no idea she would be tested at Roundup. I would have prepped her. Anyway, we then got a folder and had to fill out some paper work. I think that the school now knows everything about the Mills family. We turned in all the papers, toured the PTA table, and headed out. The teachers told us they would see at Parent Teacher night...just a few days before school. The school was cute and it secretly made me miss being a teacher.  The teachers were very nice and helpful. London liked it and Lily thinks she is going to school in August there too. They did give me some information on what Kindergarten kids need to know and what they will be learning. You can bet that when London steps foot back in that school, she WILL know her last name, how to spell it, how many syllables it has, and the genealogy behind it.

I wanted to desperately take my camera up there last night, but I just couldn't be THAT parent with her big camera bag, bulky camera, and huge lens. Well, not yet anyway....

Our sweet baby will officially be a Kindergartener August 22!
