on Friday. J had been out of town all week and on Friday he wanted me to meet him in Chicago. So, I dropped off the girls with Nana and was on my own to:
*drive to the airport*get through security making sure all my liquids were put in that little baggie
*find my gate
*get bumped up to an earlier flight because I got there so early
*find my first class seat :)
*fly to Chicago
*get off the plane and find my way to downtown in horrible traffic
*get to the Drake hotel and see J!
Now, all this may sound not a big deal to you but this is HUGE for me. I'm so wimpy, and I was a nervous wreck the whole day until I saw J. I have never flown by myself so I was very proud to do it all! I really do think I'm a tad bit taller for all the growing up I did on Friday.
I was so happy to be on my way to the hotel!
Anyway, on Friday night we went to the top of the Hancock Building to have some martinis. They were delicious.
We went to eat a fabulous dinner at Ditka's. Apparently this is Mike Ditka's steakhouse and I was continuously laughed out for not knowing who in the world this guy was?? Whatever.
We slept in on Saturday until 8:30. I know late huh? We got up, had breakfast, then headed over to Willis Tower formerly known as the Sears Tower. We made our way to the top and looked down on the busy city.
Standing in the glass case was scaaaaaary!
We had lunch at our favorite pizza place in Chicago, Lou Malnati's. It didn't disappoint. Then we went to the Navy Pier. We walked around and looked at all the "interesting" people. It was a great people-watching location. We just about froze to death though. It is really pretty if you can ignore the wind that just about takes your hair off.
The end of the pier!
After the pier we went back to the hotel and took a long nap. We got back up and headed to dinner. I had the best Italian ever. We ate at Mia Francesca. It was delicious. And really, the best Italian food. We walked around after that and saw the Cubs stadium.
Back at the hotel. 2011

We had a great little weekend away, but I missed my girls. They had a lot of fun with Nana though. She texted me many pics of them so that helped. They had a big slumber party with all the cousins. Thank you Nana for taking care of them!
