Soccer started!

This year Lily is playing soccer! It all sounded like so much fun when we signed her up! But now that practices and games have started---well, let's just say that I have never in my entire life have ever, ever, ever, ever been as hot and sweaty as I was at her first game. Holy. Moly. Fall soccer in TX is the worst. BUT Lily is really liking it and she's really catching on.

Her first practice was a few weeks ago and she just looked so stinkin' cute!

J took her to practice and he helped out the coach since they know each other.
The second practice J came home and was super sick. I think it was from the heat and dehydration. The third practice, London and I took her. It was so hot I cannot even describe it. It's terrible. But for some crazy reason, Lily is not effected by it. She runs and runs and runs the entire time. She is the only kid who doesn't rest. She is nonstop. The other girls slow down towards the end and eventually stop running but not Lily. She just keeps going and going. After practice her cheeks are so red and she is so sweaty that it scares me. I have no idea where she gets this motivation.
But watching her was fun! She was really fast and has learned a lot! I couldn't wait for the game!

The first game was on Saturday and boy oh boy. It was at 10:45 and it was already in the 90's. London and I sat on our blanket and just dripped. It was awful. But the game was very entertaining.
This is the fist year Lily can play so all the girls really have no idea what to do. It's 4 on 4 and half of a real soccer field. The first 5 minutes of the game, they just stared at the ball. No one really wanted to kick it. It took forever to get the game going. But the coach is great. He stands out on the field and teaches the whole time. He 's patient and he's really good. They didn't understand to stop when the ref blew the whistle and out of bounds meant absolutely nothing. It was a hoot. But my Lily scored 3 times!!!!!!!!!!! She could have scored a few more times but she missed the goal. We'll have to work on that! It all seems natural to her. She is super athletic and most importantly she likes it!
So, while London and I just about melted, our soccer star was out there doing her thing!

Before the game!

A little pep talk at half time! Oh, and eating some apples.

The Comets won! They don't actually keep score yet but you better believe I sure did.
Okay, last time to brag but Lily also was asked to be apart of an advanced preschool team at gymnastics! I really wasn't surprised by this but so thrilled for her! Unfortunately, soccer is keeping us from this pretty big commitment right now so we'll hopefully be able to do it in November. Okay, done bragging!!! :-)
