Who needs seatbelts?

London and I had our music class this morning, and as usual we were running late. I was a little scatter-brained with getting her snack, her juice, my keys, my phone, my purse, her diaper bag, and of course, putting the Elmo DVD in so she can watch it in the car. So, I put her in her car seat, got the car started, ran back in because I forgot my water, ran back out, then headed to church.

Along the way, I would glance back at her. She was doing fine. She ate her snack, drank her juice, and watched her DVD. I did notice a couple of times, that when she would drop her book or her cup, she reached right over and would grab them from the seat. I thought, wow, she's getting really strong! She even leaned all the way over a couple of times to try and grab something in the floor board. Once again, I thought, she is getting so big and strong! Look at her reach for stuff without crying for me to get it for her!
We finally arrived at the church for our music class. I grabbed my purse and my keys. I go to grab her out of her car seat and there she was.....

NO SEATBELT!!!

She wasn't getting stronger! She had nothing to restrain her! The straps weren't even on her shoulders. I mean, there was nothing! Just free as can be! I about died! It takes us a good 25 minutes to get to church and we go all the way down 75! Scary! I thank the Lord that we were safe and that she didn't fall forward or over the side of her chair. That would have been really scary!

Well, we had fun in our class. We played with our instruments, sang songs, danced, and had a good time. After the class, we walked back to the car and this time, I didn't forget!

MUCH BETTER!

I am sure that was very scary. I am so glad that we have such an awesome God to protect us!!

I have also had my scattered brain moments. One morning, at 6:30 when I was dropping Nate off at my mom's. I took her my breast pump and the diaper bag with full bottles was in my car. Fortunately, I noticed before I drove off. I guess Nate would have been hungry all day, and I would have been leaking everywhere. Now, she gets the bottles out of the bag while I put him down to sleep--that way, if I slip up again we will know right away ;-).
