Gum, 31 1/2 lbs, and a Happy Meal

Since London could talk, she has been asking to chew gum. I kept telling her, "No, you are too little," or "no, you are too young," or "no, it's bad for your teeth." Well, after awhile I ran out of excuses so, I finally decided on telling her, "Okay, you can chew gum when you are 4." That ended the discussion back then.

So, here we are. The day of her birthday in the midst of her opening up at least 100 presents, running around like a crazy woman at her gymnastics party, eating cake and ice cream, playing with her preschool friends, and seeing all of our families...she still remembered. So, that evening when things calmed down a bit, we gave her some gum. Her first piece of gum. She was so serious while chewing it. I think she was concentrating on not swallowing it. I hope it was well worth the wait.

Don't mind the princess outfit...

Well, London did have her 4 year check-up the other day. Boy, that was brutal. I never thought it would be easier giving kids shots when they are babies...but it is. You don't have to hold babies down with force. Babies cry for just awhile and then forget about it. Not 4 year olds.

First, London had to have her finger pricked to check for various things, and all came back clear. She weighs 31 1/2 lbs. She is tiny. I swear I am feeding her. She is 35 inches tall. The doctor said she'll probably end up being about 5'2"--no surprise there, and that she would do well in ballet. After the doctor checked her from head to toe, he said she was perfect, and I have to agree. Then she had her hearing test. She passed. Last but not least--the shots. When she realized what was happening, all hell broke loose--literally. She screamed and cried. It was horrible. I had to hold her arms while the nurses poked those mean needles in my London. The nurses are fast, but she cried for quite awhile. She kept wanting to hold up her leg to see the damage. She didn't want to walk (she is my little drama queen) so, I had to hold her. (But good grief, she only weighs 31 lbs! It almost feels like I'm carrying Lily!!) The tears and whimpering finally ended when I told her we were headed to McDonald's for a Happy Meal and a strawberry shake. That ALWAYS makes things better. No more shots until she's 12!! Yippee!

I can not believe that she remembered! Gum - of all things! Sorry for the shots, poor baby girl!

Poor London! I actually think the princess outfit is fitting...maybe Auntie should tell her she should wear it to preschool!

She looks like such a lady while chewing her gum, maybe it was the dress up outfit, every one looks older in evening wear!
