My favorite all-time books are
To Kill A Mocking Bird and
Gone With The Wind. Both of those books were outstanding. I have read many books that come close to those, and of course, some that fall very short. I have found another book that I can add to my top two favorites. Over the Christmas break, I read
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It was a book that once I started, I could not put it down. It's on the New York Times best seller list. It was phenominal. I laughed and cried. I was angry and happy. I LOVED this book. It's takes place in the 1960's in Jackson, Mississippi. It's covers the lives of three unforgettable women. The book is full of heart and hope. It made me
think. This is the author's first novel and she does an outstanding job of taking you back in time and letting you take a glimpse of what these women experienced in their own worlds. The characters voices will stay with you and make you laugh out loud. I did not want this story to end. It is powerful, shocking, and one that will stay with me forever. Go right now and get it! It can your birthday present to me!! :)

Ooh! Awesome! I downloaded this for my Kindle and haven't read it yet. I really didn't even know what it was about except for the Amazon synopsis. My favorite book (read it twice) is Gone With The Wind, so I'm definitely going to read "The Help" next!
I read this in April last year and I could not put it down. I wanted it to be longer and I can't wait for the next one, hopefully she will continue these characters!
I loved it too! Another good read:
Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons
Redeeming Love - my absolute fav!
I so love reading - it's just a good escape!
Can't wait! I will put this on the list for my post-Twilight-series reading.
Oh! I got The Help about 2 months ago and have had it on the list to read! And I am totally with you on GWTW and To Kill...what great reads!
Okay, just have to comment here: TKAM, and GWTW are two of my top three books of ALL TIME. (Memoirs of a Geisha is my other top 3...) So I think we might have similar tastes in good reads. I'm gonna have to try The Help. Wondering if I can get it at the library...Dave Ramsey has put the kibosh on my book buying lately. :-L
Oh...did you ever read the GWTW sequel, "Scarlett"? I've got it if you'd like to borrow it. It was actually pretty decent. You could tell it had a different author, but she did a pretty good job capturing Scarlett's character and spunk in a new phase of life.
A- I have not read the sequel, Scarlett. Maybe I should borrow it from you! I also LOVED Memoirs of a Geisha! That book was really good too! I do think we have the same tastes so now you HAVE to read The Help!! (I would let you borrow my copy but my mom has it now! :(
