Lily's Big Day

Lily's big day finally arrived last Thursday---PRESCHOOL! She has been waiting for her turn to go to school for so long now. On Thursday morning, we shipped sister off to Kindergarten, came home, ate her favorite for breakfast (pancakes!), and got ready for school. We took some pictures and got her backpack all ready. The night before we made her lunch together, and I think she was more excited about that than anything else. We got in the car and headed to school. I was so excited about dropping her off. I have been needing and wanting a day all to myself. Granted, I did have a yucky dentist appointment but I was looking forward to just a "me day." When we got there, Lily jumped out of the car, grabbed her backpack, and headed to the doors. She was all smiles and kept telling me that big girls go to school and not babies. She also kept reminding me that big girls don't cry. I think she was trying to motiviate herself.
We got to Mrs. L's room and Lily walked right in. We found her name tag and put her back pack on the tiny hook. Mrs. L made us feel very welcome. She had activities out so Lily hugged me, waved, and walked to the back table to begin her activity. I was so proud of her. I watched for a minute and left---ready to face my day ALONE. I was walking through the parking lot and suddenly got a little teary-eyed. I already missed her. It felt weird just getting in the car and not strapping someone down in a car seat. The rest of the day, I felt "off." I kept looking behind me. I also felt like I was forgetting something.
I was so happy to pick her up. Lily had a great day and she did so good! Mrs. L said Lily was super easy, followed directions, and played really well with her new friends. I asked her what her favorite part of the day was and she proudly said, "Lunch!"
Well, all that was about a week ago, and I am no longer sad, teary-eyed, or feeling like I've forgotten something. I secretly love it. Tuesday's and Thursday's are now beautiful days filled with nothing but ME. Oh, happy days! :)

Getting a hair cut several days before!

This is the day we had Meet the Teacher. She looks so old here.

The BIG DAY!

Showing off her back pack. Her lunch box matches and it's so stinkin' cute.

We're here!

A little nervous but ready to learn!
I did notice how little Lily looked compared to all the other kiddos. She just turned 3 and the other kids seem to be turning 4 any day now. Those August birthdays. :(

A great way to end the day!
