The famous fruit plate

Okay, so maybe it's not famous to you, but it definitely is to me. When I was a little girl my dad would make my sister and I a fruit plate right before we went to bed. We didn't get one every night, it was only on very special evenings--or probably when my dad had enough energy to actually make one! First off, just spending time with my dad was very special. He worked so hard during the day and finally seeing him at night was always a treat. But then he would have that fruit plate just waiting for my sister and I to devour. It was simply a plate of fruit, but there was just something about it. He would have the fruit (apples, bananas, oranges, pears, pineapples, grapes, and whatever else was in the fridge) neatly arranged on a plate. But what made the fruit plate perfect was that my sister and I got to use tooth picks!! This was such a big deal to me as a kid. I LOVED eating all that fruit with my very own special tooth pick!

Well, London has already experienced the "famous fruit plate" with my dad. She of course, loved it too. I swear it's all about using tooth picks. (I think she would eat just about anything as long as there was a tooth pick involved!) I made her a fruit plate the other night, without my dad. I guess I feel like I need to keep the tradition going.

Every time I think of the "fruit plate" it brings a smile to my face. I hope that it does the same for my girls one of these days, too.

Okay, I definitely need to remember this one. JK still struggles with not gagging on his spoon, so it might be awhile, but what a creative idea. It's even nice when there's a sweet sentiment and memory behind it. :-)

That's so cute! And I'm gonna have to try the toothpicks too! Thanks.

That is so nice, Mandy! I love hearing your memories and seeing you "give" them to London and Lily!

What a cute tradition! The fruit looks so good! I bet it is so fun in the summer after long days outside or at the pool. :)
