Hasta la vista baby!

The cast is gone!! I still can't believe it's all over! She is not 100% yet, but no more casts. The doctor said since she isn't walking we can be a little more liberal with her. Every time we went in for an X-ray though, there would be new bone growth. It was pretty amazing to see how quickly her bone grew back together! But we had some cast issues. When she first got the cast, the doctor told me that it would probably fall off. The swelling goes down and the cast just gets really loose. I was shocked the first time it happened. I was walking down the stairs with Lily on my hip, when I hear this "thunk" sound. Wondering what in the world fell, I look around and see that hot pink cast lying on the stairs. So, I call the doctor and make an appointment for the next day. Lily LOVED not having that cast on. She was all over the place and enjoyed experiencing some freedom. But last Friday, we went in and she got another cast. The doctor said all looked good and it wouldn't be too much longer. Well, Monday the same thing happened again! The cast fell off for the second time!! We went yesterday morning, got another X-ray and the doctor decided to go ahead and be done with cast! She still can't get in a walker or a jumper yet, but she is cast free! We go back in two weeks for a final appointment! I am so glad but can't really complain--she never skipped a beat! I am so proud of her!

The two casts

So glad she is cast free. I hope you'll keep the cute pink casts, she might want to see them some day and You won't remember how small they were!
