Our sweet Bailey

This weekend has been quite an emotional roller coaster for us. We lost our sweet Bailey on Saturday morning. Bailey had been sick. About a month ago, we had to take him to the vet because he was having trouble breathing. After running several tests and draining him of the fluid on his lungs, we still were not sure what was wrong. Cancer seemed to be on the top of the list. But once the fluid was drained Bailey seemed to be getting better. He was like his good ol' self again. Then things started to change. He was having trouble breathing again and we were going to take him back to the vet on Monday. Friday night I could hear him panting, and I let him out about 3am. I woke up at 7am and went to get him and he was gone. It was the worst thing ever. I had a physical break down outside and probably woke up the whole neighborhood.
Bailey was almost 8 years old. He was truly the best dog. He was loyal, sweet, gentle, and so so loving to everyone he met. He loved going on walks, chasing the football in the backyard, and sleeping in bed with us. I am heart broken.
I truly believe Bailey is in heaven. I cannot imagine a heaven without animals, and I cannot imagine a God who wouldn't let us see our beloved pets again. We are shocked, sad, and just feel so lost without our Bailey around. Bailey was our first baby. We brought him home at 8 weeks old and we were blessed by him for a long time. He was the first thing that greeted us when we came home and now the house just feels empty. Please pray for us because we are very crushed. I don't have any tears left.

One of my favorite pics of Bailey and London.

He was always in the background--used to drive me crazy trying to get a picture without him in it!

So spoiled!

He was always right there...

Would let these girls do anything to him.

My dear Bailey,
You were the best dog in the world. I know you are up "there" playing around and slobbering over everyone. Thank you for protecting our little family and bringing such joy to our lives. You will be missed. I love you sweet boy.
See you again,
Mom, Dad, London and Lily

So sorry to hear this. From the look of the pictures, I think London now has quite the guardian angel to watch over her.

There will never be a better dog than Bailey. He is hands down the best dog that ever lived. I wish I could take away your pain. I am so glad he was able to spend his life with you and j and the girls. You gave him the best life. He knows how much we all loved him. I believe too that we will see him again! What a wonderful day that will be!

Mandy, I'm so sorry. I lost my sweet Henry a few years ago and was devastated. I'd like to imagine he greeted your sweet boy on the Rainbow Bridge...

Tearing up as I see these sweet pictures. My favorite one is the sprawled on the cold kitchen tile...they love that cold on their bellies. I know you gave Bailey a most wonderful life, and I too think we get to see our sweet friends again in heaven.

This post made me cry for you Mandy. I can't imagine what you must be feeling. It is like losing a family member when a pet passes. I truly believe that all dogs go to heaven! My heart hurts for you and your family but I do believe you have a watch dog looking over your family and he might even be running around with my dogs who have passed! xxxx
