The paci fairy returns!

The paci fairy has finally returned. It's been awhile since she has been to our home! I have been holding off on her visit. I cherish nap times and quiet evenings but it's time to get rid of these things. So, we gathered up all the pacis and put them in a baggie. We sat down and drew our goodbye pictures.

This is her favorite way to have her paci--close to her nose.

Giving baby one last paci too.
London enjoyed all this more than Lily. London kept asking where are the pacis going, what does the paci fairy look like, where does the paci fairy live.... I didn't mean for this to turn into such a big deal! I should have waited until she was at preschool! But anyway, after we colored our pictures we put everything in the shoe box.

And carried it all downstairs...

to put on the porch for the paci fairy.

One last look.

We said our goodbyes, closed the door, and then I turned around to this.
I think she finally understood what was happening.

So, we headed to McDonald's to heal the pain. A Happy Meal and chocolate shake did the trick!

She takes her shakes seriously.
That afternoon, nap time was a diaster. She would talk for awhile then cry, talk for awhile then cry....it went on for about an hour and then all out tears. I went in her room, rocked her, sang to her, and tried to lay her back down. It wasn't happening. So, I got her up. The rest of the afternoon and that evening was terrible. She was a demon--plain and simple.
I was nervous for night time. She was exhausted so bed time was super early. She went to bed around 7. Right before I put her down she said, "Paci mommy!"--like I had forgotten. I told her pacis are for babies and she's a big girl now. I kissed her, gave her her dolls and blanket, and quietly left. She cried for about 10 minutes and then passed out.
I was in bed reading my book (Bloodroot--really good so far!) for awhile. I got tired so I put it away, turned off the lamp, and the second my head hit the pillow, Lily started to cry. I went in to calm her down but she wanted to be held. So, I laid down with her for awhile. Right before she dozed off, I picked her up and put her back in her bed and didn't hear from her again until 7:30am!!
Yesterday, nap time was so much better. She did ask for the paci but no tears. She talked for awhile then fell asleep.
Last night was pretty bad. Lily has a cold now and can't breathe, so I was up with her throughout the night.
Today is looking a little better. It's nap time and so far so good...
We are leaving for OK so I hope and pray that this little trip will do her some good so that by the time we get back, the paci will be long forgotten...
I'm hoping because I'm ready for my Lily pie to return!

OH my gosh! This blog was so awesome! I read it out loud to my family at Thanksgiving! The paci fairy and some scissors are visiting us in January! Poor Lily! I hope it is working out okay!

Seriously in tears over here with those crying pictures. So sad!!! Good for you for staying strong...not sure I would have.

(Did London remember her visit with the paci fairy?)
